To sing and make melody to the Lord in your heart
Makes for a day with a delightful start
Psalms, hymns and spiritual songs
Surely this for the soul longs
A heart filled with the grace of the Lord
His word do we carry, like a might sword.
I often see t-shirts that say "Just Do It". I saw one the other day, it was my one year old grandson who just happened to be wearing one! I thought about whether I should be annoyed at this worldly saying, I kind of felt like it, but as I thought about it I decided that I am going to let this be a positive saying for me and hopefully it will be to others. I looked at scripture passages that guide and I see that Paul encourages believers to speak to ourselves in psalms, hymns and spiritual songs, to make melody in our heart and not only to ourselves but to others . . . .Wow, that seems easy enough! Well as I learned, it's not so easy to wake up and start doing this yourself, let alone others! But then I thought . . . ."Just do it, never mind how you feel, Just do it". So as I endeavour to allow God's word to work effectually in me, I have to chuckle and thank my little grandson for unknowingly reminding me that we don't have to feel something in order to act something.
Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.
